Jennifer Bisgard, director at Khulisa Management Services met Kimon Phitidis, managing director of Social Innovations, at the main meeting of the Maths and Science Learner Support community in the second quarter of 2013. This interaction subsequently led to Khulisa being contracted to conduct an evaluation on one of its interventions: the PEP Academy, an after-hours tutoring initiative sponsored by PEP stores.
