Meeting highlights – maths and science community of practice

The BRIDGE Maths and Science Community of Practice (CoP) has in the past contemplated the content of the curriculum, often with a view to suggesting changes to it. We have heard the opinion – strongly stated – that the Foundation and Intermediate Phase curriculum content is perfectly adequate but that the implementation is often less so. At the first CoP of 2020, we spent time looking at how we teach maths, from the Foundation Phase through to the Senior school. We explored the questions – how can teachers give learners techniques which will help them successfully navigate mathematics and science curricula; and what is missing in the way learners are being taught?
