The Covid-19 pandemic has deeply affected education across all sectors. This online meeting of the Initial Teacher Education Community of Practice explored its impact on teacher education programmes in higher education, with a specific focus on what lock-down means for the Teaching Practice/ Work Integrated Learning component. How are students affected? What are HEI institutions doing to provide alternatives? How do we ensure that student teachers who may not be able to go into schools at all this year are exposed to examples of real teaching practice and school-based learning situations? Lee Rusznyak from Wits described an online-based analytical model currently being developed for the sector through a collaborative approach. All participants shared their views and interventions on this critical challenge for ITE.
