The Mpumalanga CoP facilitated by Penreach and BRIDGE aimed to explore how sustainability of ECD programmes can be achieved given the difficult socio-economic and legislative environment that ECD programmes operate in. Access to the subsidy is limited in the sector, however there are organisations working to support practitioners to manage their ECD programmes more efficiently in order to be sustainable and generate income outside of the subsidy. One such organisation is GROW Educare and they gave the ECD practitioners in Mpumalanga a presentation on the kind of support they offer to ECD owners. If you are an ECD centre manager/owner, the meeting highlights of this CoP will certainly help you to think about how you could start managing your ECD centre more like a business.
