Bridge Project - Convening

SOUTH AFRICAN EXTRAORDINARY SCHOOLS COALITION

Lebone II College of the Royal Bafokeng is a member of the South African Extraordinary Schools Coalition. This short clip is a brief overview of the school's Continuing Development Programme which Murray Thomas shared at the May 2012 coalition meeting. This meeting, held at the college, gave members a first hand view of how this teacher development approach works.
Mona Ewees is a principal at LEAP Science & Maths School in Cape Town. She has a passion for instructional development. As a LEAP representative within the coalition, she shares key points for classroom observation in school peer reviews in this short clip. These classroom observations are designed to support coalition schools to develop instructional leadership practices in their varied contexts. At this May 2012 meeting, observations focused on student centredness and differentiation of teaching approaches.
Bridge - A Summary

Bridge is an education-focused non-profit organisation in South Africa. Bridge links innovators in education, including representatives from civil society, government, funders, practitioners, teachers, learners, principals, parents, research organisations and unions. It connects them together in communities of practice that promote the sharing of good and effective educational practices so that there can be an increase in trust, a reduction in duplication, a maximising of resources, and an impact on policy so that the education system as a whole can benefit.

WHO IS THE BRIDGE PROJECT FOR?

In this clip, Mr John Gilmour, Director of the LEAP Schools and Chairperson of the Bridge board highlights the stakeholders of the Bridge Project
